  • Mission Statement/Rationale: (5) digital natives vs. digital immigrants discussion, limiting students because of our discomfort with technology/lack of skills/fear of the unknown, pictures of digital natives (our kids) Emiliano at 2 or 3 knowing how to watch a DVD. Programming VCR. Who are we as digital immigrants. (mission statement as part of power point)

  • Use clickers to find out who's using what sort of technology in their classrooms: turning point power point with questions (see notes) (20) (9:40-10:00)
  • Standards Power Point Presentation: Basic intro.(45) with Mike's chart (10-10:45)
  • Digital storytelling. Personal samples through bios: show our bios with layered levels of technology: 1. bio with pic, 2 add clip art/wrap text, 3. add audio. Now tell a story digitally. Use Mexico City Trip from LA STARS day 2.How to insert and format clip art images: clip art, photos, etc. Where to get clip art images, how to modify clip art search, etc. (20) 10:45-11:15 Participants make their own and share out (25) (11:15-11:40)

  • Whetting your appetite with samples of technology-related authentic resources and samples (Authentic Clips ppt): in search of authenticity PURPOSE (How do we evaluate and integrate into the classroom? Why authentic? What makes it authentic? What are the purposes? What do you want them to show that they can do with the language? Are there ways to make this more authentic? Show first 2 minutes and talk about your favorite hug and why. (30) 1:00-1:30 Handout, watch rest of video and discuss with partner. (15) 1:30-1:45

  • Continue with power point and show our answers & cross out with Power point pen answers that participants already gave us (5) 2:00-2:05. Show hyperlinks. Go back to Favorite Hug and discuss our reasons (cultural-Mike, the human condition-Catherine) Standards-based: zone in on one aspect. What do we want to focus on? Now that we've captured, how can we highlight? (5) 2:05-2:10
  • Now find your own authentic piece, using our rubric. (rest of time) Task 1: First 15 minutes find authentic text in your textbook. Task 2: Go on internet and find authentic video clip that you may use in any portion of your program.
